Ok so i've been really bad lately...

Ok i have to apologize, i've been horrible about blogging lately.

To tell the truth, i've been running horribly late in tournaments. Just making bad decisions, blah blah blah, dealing with the stresses of work, wedding, injuries, and just not feeling so well... until tonight.

On a whim, while Stephanie was putting together new furniture, I decided to stay out of her way and play a little. So I jumped into the $6k guarantee on cake ($16.50 buyin) and take it down.

Feels good to play great and have the results to show.

Solid start for Poker Hedge Fund...

So i got started with Poker Hedge Fund tonight. I basically invested $250 in the fund by shipping $50 into the fund itself and playing with $200. I currently own 1/2 a share.

So after setting everything up with PHF, I decided to jump into a micro bounty tournament on Cake. It was a $6 Bounty tourney on cake.

Congratulations GetRolled,
Out of 100 players in Tournament 2479708, you came in 1st and have won $72.00.
You've also been awarded 4.2 Cake Points for participating in the tournament.
Best wishes,The CakePoker Team

I also collected 6 bounties for an additional $18.

Solid day of poker...

Ok ok, i've managed to take a few days off from playing poker. If you've never tried to plan a wedding, it's more than handful. Stephanie has been incredible and we've actually come a significant way in such a short amount of time. If you'd like to leave a comment or two, our wedding page can be found here:

http://www.mywedding.com/stephanieandbrandonswedding/

Well earlier this week I managed to satellite into the $75k guarantee $109 buy in on Cake poker for $18 bucks. I managed to cash for $151 after getting all in with AQ vs AJ and coming up short for an 80,000 chip pot. Oh well. Later in the evening, I managed another micro cash in the $5r bringing the total cash on the day to ~$160 in profit.

I'd like to say congrats to the pokerhedgefund.com team who have been crushing lately. Kyle (MsuDu19) has been crushing on Cake poker of late, with prob. close to $4k in cashes this week alone. Kudos man, and keep it up.

Oh what a day...

When you have a great thing going for you...

Over the past few months, I have been doing some very serious soul searching. I actually can face myself in the mirror and genuinely be happy with myself. I have a purpose, I have a direction... and I have a wonderful woman standing beside me thru it all. Things couldn't get much better for me... until today.

Today, I asked the woman I've been seeing for the past 6 months to marry me. We decided to take a nice ride into Beverly Hills (we've managed to drive to different locals every weekend, so i just wanted to see the area - at least thats what i told her). Well after we'd parked, walked around for a few minutes, we came upon Tiffany and Co. I lead Stephanie inside and showed her the ring i picked out for her and asked her to marry me.

Of course, she said 'YES!' as the tears of joy were streaming down her face.

So when you have a great thing going for you, hold onto it with all your might... and never let it go. Embrace the opportunities life throws at you.

A solid night...

After a few days off from playing poker, basically because Stephanie was off and i wanted to spend my time with her before i start my new job, I decided to jump into the $5k guarantee ($15 + $1.50 freezeout ) on Cake Poker.

I really feel like my game is coming around, and my results are definitely beginning to show. I managed to take 14th for $60 ( ~$40 profit for the night ). I had two very interesting hands come up, which i'll post here. First hand was ~ an hour and a half into the tourney.

I've got a lot of mixed feelings about this fold. A very trusted poker friend said tough tough fold, yet another valued friend says he'd never fold there ever. A couple of others who were railing me at the time were just flat stunned.

Lets do some calculating. Cardplayer.com's hand calculator:

Kd9d vs lets say player had huge hand QJ = 41.41% vs 58.59% respectively
Kd9d vs lets say 66 = 32.93% vs 67.07% respectively
Kd9d vs AQ = 53.23% vs 46.77% respectively.

Preflop there is $2850 before JT shoves for $20740. Pot odds say i need to be ~47% to make this call correctly. The more i think about this hand, the more i wish i would have called here.

My bust hand was another interesting situation. Player was shoving any two cards for 4 hands prior to this.

Final Table bubble...

So i decide to jump into the 2K guarantee on cake this evening. I ran KJ on the button with ~10 bbs in KK in the small blind. Finished 11th. meh. Oh well, just unlucky. Had one very interesting suckout tonight, which i'm not really bragging about this hand... I actually felt bad for the other player.

This was 100% making a move and i thought i could get these two players (who were active) off their hands. Unfortunatly i ran into Aces... but sucked out BIG TIME.

Congrats to a friend MsuDu19 ( + to the EV! on Cake Poker ) for taking down the $15 $5k guarantee for $700 and change. From what i understand, he was staked by Dan Steele... who's putting together quite an impressive stable of horses. Congrats again man... you're crushing poker once again.

Taking a shot...

Ok so today i decided to take a shot at the $75K Guarantee on Cake Poker tonight. The buy in was $109 (well over what i should be playing on my roll) but the risk is so slight and the potential reward is HUUUUUUUUGE @ ~16K. Anyway, I ran horrible. Absolutely horrible. In fact i think i played 2 hands the first hour alone. These two hand were basically enough to keep me above the 3k starting chips, but not by very much... and then this hand came up.

Ok so understanding how tight I was playing the KQ call really upset me, but as you can see i got my money in the middle with the best hand. According to Cardplayer.com, my winning percentage is 51.61% opposted to 19.20% and 24.47% respectively. It just wasn't my day obviously.

On a side note, a very good friend of mine Carder England ( + to the EV! ) as been ripping up tournaments lately. He chopped the $109 for $7011.90 and took 2nd place in the Nightly 100K $162 buyin for $13,500. To quote Dan Steele...

Must
Be
Nice

sir!

In all seriousness, congrats to this guy. He just crushes these tourneys. I can't wait to see how he does in a few big live events.

Staking, Transfers to friends and a little cashout.

Well I decided to help out a friend regain his confidence. I really believe he is a solid poker player, and just needs a solid boost in his bankroll... with some solid bankroll management will increase his confidence tremendously. I staked Dave (Dr23 on the forums, Sergio Ramos on Cake) $30 to play some SNG's. I'm very happy to report he's done an incredible job building. His sharkscope has a 61% ROI after 14 games played with a profit of $41 bucks. Great job Dave, keep up the great work.

I also transferred some money to a friend in Florida. Greg (gwitt on Cake) wanted to take a shot and try to build a roll. Best of luck to him as well.

I took a little cashout for my win earlier this week. I want to enjoy this win, and i'm probably gonna take Stephanie out for a nice evening. I'm finding more and more how much i really do care for this lovely woman, and how i can see a solid future together with her by my side. I can honestly say, I do love her deeply.

As for poker, tonight i think i'm going to play some guarantees... the $15+$1.50 ($5000 guarantee), the $6.00 + $0.60 ($2000 bounty), and possibly the $30 + $3 ($7500 guarantee).

... just another day in the life

... Of a poker playing fool. Today started off with a phone call at 8:15 a.m. from Santa Monica Hopsital offering me a job. I'm happy to say i was very pleased to get this call, although i had stayed up late the night before. Stephanie and I spent the evening at Six Flags, Magic Mountain. Steph bought me (and herself) a season pass for my birthday and I must say its been very fun. There are over 10 roller coasters in this park, and i don't think i dislike any of them. Good times.

As for poker, I played two tournaments tonight. The $15 (5k guarantee) and the $5r on cake poker. Nothing really to report, i barely cashed in the $15 (basically for money back) and i traded stacks with a guy in the $5r who hit runner runner for a straight. Oh well. There's always tomorrow.

I'm also working on getting back in shape. I feel like i've let my body go over the past year or so, and i want to tone back up. I think after running this evening for about 30 mins, i'll work on chest and shoulders.

Sharkscope

For all you stoners out there, I give you 'The Perfect ROI'

Thats a pretty graph too huh?

Starting off right...

I feel like i'm finally settling back down and into a lifestyle i enjoy, as i'm 3 weeks into living here in Marina del Rey, California. The hustle and bustle of NYC really got to me, and i was flat out miserable there.

Well its one week past my birthday, and a friend of mine decided to stake me in a few tournaments on Cake Poker, The $15 bounty and the $33 ( $7500 guarantee ) tonight. Well the $15 bounty tournament didn't go so great, as i was very card dead most of the tournament. I did manage to pick up two bounties from shorties for $7.50 a piece which basically allowed me to freeroll the tourney. However, i failed to make it into the money and just settled for the $15 in bounties.

The $33 was a whole different story. I managed to take down the tourney for $2093.85. Its great to have ~10 friends railing you onto victory and I thank each and every one of them for their support. I especially want to thank Dan Steele personally for letting me play on his dime.

Not only has this win increased my poker bankroll significantly, its really helped my confidence and i hope this is reflected in future tourneys.
